Summer 2005

Dear family and friends,

Well, what a summer this has been!

In May, Joanna and Paul announced the great news that they are expecting a baby at Christmas - our first grandchild - what a thrill! SO John and I decided to take a trip to Perth in the summer to see for ourselves that all was well.
This we duly did and were able to spend three weeks with Joanna, Paul and "Pod" which was truly wonderful, for us, at least. You will need to ask Joanna and Paul if it was as wonderful for them! Whilst there we helped them move house - their own house is not yet completed so they have moved in with Paul's parents which, at present, is right across the road from their new house, but not for long as Stuart and Gwendy are having a house built on the ocean which will be ready next year. It was quite hectic but, somehow we managed to get everything and everybody to the right place at the right time!

It was during our time in Perth that Jonathan and Jen announced their engagement! WHilst on holiday in Rome Jonathan popped the question (at the Spanish steps) so we have another Mrs J Langley to be!

They are now busily making their preparations for marriage in August 2006 so it's all excitement here in Blackpool at present!

The third piece of news is that John is to be ordained as a vicar in October. He has left his church (St Stephen on the Cliffs) and taken a sideways step into the Independent Anglican Communion, which is an offshoot of the Church of England. They ordain priests who have the necessary background and experience but who have not necessarily studied at Theological College. So on 1st October John will be ordained as a Deacon to be follwed by ordination as a Priest in December. He will continue with his regular 9-5 employment but will be free to set up a congregation locally, baptise, marry, bury etc.
As you can see, it's been quite a summer!

And so it was back to school at the start of this month to be greeted with the news of Ofsted inspection! This has been VERY stressful and busy but at least it is over, thank goodness, and we can now get down to a normal routine - whatever that may be!

I will try not to be so long between blogs, but don't hold your breath, I don't seem to have much spare time, but I will try harder in future!

Love and prayers to you all,

Tricia and family.
