We had a lovely day at John's Consecration service on Saturday. It was held at Oldham and was a moving occasion. John (and two others) was Consecrated as the Bishop for Western Australia (so the Lord must know something that we are still waiting to hear!). During the service John had to prostrate himself to be sprinkled with holy water and was then annointed with holy oil. He then received the symbols of Episcopal authority - his ring, crozier and mitre. You will be able to see some of this in the photos. You will see from his title that he was also awarded an honorary doctorate in Theology. C.J. is also a Church title meaning Companion of Jesus.
It was so good that John's mum was able to come to the service - along with one of his sisters and her husband. I was especially delighted that Margaret and Clive travelled from Swindon to be with us. It really was a very special occasion.
So now we continue to wait - for our house to be sold and our visa to be processed. Then John will be able to start his ministry "down under".
Bye for now.

Dear Trish,
This is a wonderful report on what I sense was a truly blessed and beautiful occasion. I'm sure that John never thought in his wildest dreams that this day would ever be - and yet deep in his soul I know that it is what he has always been called to. It is a strong reminder that in spite of every obstacle that we may see on our path, God has the final word - Hallelujah! But enough eulogising from me. These are great photos and you have put a fantastic blog together. I'm so glad that John's family and Margaret and Clive were able to be with you. That too is a significant part of the day.
It was also great to look through the earlier blogs from Australia. I'm sure you are really looking forward to that part of your life also.
Congratulations to the Rt. Rev. John ......CJ DTh! Bishop of Western Australia. Wonderful!
We are in the closing phase of our withdrawal and it will be good to see you soon.
Our love to you both and the family.
God bless
Helen
We had a great day and were so grateful we were able to be present at this wonderful ceremony.
We know that John will take this role very seriously and that his work will soon be commencing "down under"
Margaret
